AirBaltic Baggage Allowance

airBaltic baggage allowance depends on the cabin class you are traveling with. Each fare type or cabin class comes with its own sets of baggage allowance. Which means, if you are allowed to bring additional luggage free of charge in a particular fare segment, then you may not enjoy the same right with different fares. To know more about it, read the points below:

  • Each passenger, irrespective of their class or fare type, are allowed to carry one cabin bag and one personal item as their Airbaltic check in baggage.
  • The cabin bag must not exceed 55cm × 40cm × 23cm, and the personal item should not be more than 30cm × 40cm × 10cm.
  • It must not weigh more than 8 kgs.
  • If you have upgraded your reservation, you may be entitled to 12 kg baggage allowance.
  • All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.
  • If you have additional luggage or your luggage exceeds the weight or linear restrictions, then you need to pay excess baggage fees.

AirBaltic Cabin Baggage Allowance

Asc per AirBaltic baggage allowance, the number of hand luggage and personal items you carry onboard, depends on the kind of class. For further details, read below:

  • Each Economy Class passenger is allowed to carry one hand baggage and one personal item.
  • The cabin bag must not exceed 55cm × 40cm × 23cm, and the personal item should not be more than 30cm × 40cm × 10cm.
  • It must not weigh more than 8 kgs.
  • If you are planning to carry heavier luggage, then the airline allows up to 12 kg. However, the dimension remains the same as per Airbaltic baggage allowance.
  • It may cost you around 11.99 EUR.

  • Each Business Class and airBaltic Club VIP passenger is allowed to carry 2 cabin bags and one personal item as per Airbaltic baggage allowance.
  • The dimension  of the cabin bags should not exceed 55cm × 40cm × 23cm and for the personal item, it must be 30cm × 40cm × 10cm.
  • airBaltic Club Executive and VIP members are entitled to bring heavy cabin baggage free of charge.
  • Passengers with reduced mobility can bring auxiliary devices into the aircraft cabin. However, safety rules shouldn’t be violated.
  • If the baggage limit exceeds, then you may have to pay a fee of 60 EUR.

Extra Cabin Baggage

You may be allowed to bring a small fragile item or musical instruments, which do not require extra space as extra luggage for a fee of 60 EUR. The weight must not exceed more than 8 kg and dimension should be 55cm × 40cm × 23cm.

AirBaltic Checked Baggage Allowance

airBaltic allows its passengers to bring one piece of checked baggage, which must not exceed 23 kg and the dimension should not be more than 100cm × 50cm × 80cm. Here are some points to be noted:

  • Business Class passengers are allowed to bring 2 bags free of charge with a combined weight of up to 46 kg with a maximum weight of 32 kg per bag in accordance to Airbaltic baggage allowance.
  • Classic and Green Plus passengers are allowed to bring 1 bag free of charge, which must weigh not more than 23 kg.

AirBaltic Special Baggage Allowance

If you have special baggage to carry, then you must directly contact the airBaltic ticket office. You need to arrange the transportation of the special luggage with the airline in advance. Furthermore, if your itinerary includes a stopover at Riga that exceeds 24-hours, then the special equipment fee will be applied to each flight.

AirBaltic Baggage Allowance for Infants and Children

AirBaltic makes the journey of their infant passengers as smooth as possible. Read the points below to know the complimentary services you will be provided, if you have an infant or kid with you.

  • Infants 0-2 years old are entitled to one checked bag up to 10 kg free of charge as per Airbaltic baggage allowance.
  • Infants are entitled to a collapsible pram or a stroller, a carrycot or an infant car type seat.
  • The infant restraint system should be maximum 45 cm wide to fit in the aircraft seat and must be attached to a passenger seat solely by using the passenger’s seat belt.
  • Restraint system only consists of straps that only fasten over and around the back of the seat are not acceptable as mentioned in the Airbaltic baggage allowance.

AirBaltic Baggage Allowance for Pets

airBaltic welcomes pets, so that you can bring your fur baby on your adventure. However, to be able to bring your pet onboard with you, you must comply with some specific rules of the airline.

Small Pets

  • The passenger has to bring necessary documents, including import, export, transit documents, health and vaccination certificates.
  • airBaltic transports only cats and dogs as hand luggage in the cabin or in the cargo hold as checked baggage, depending on the pet’s weight and size.
  • To be able to travel in the cabin, the weight of the pet and the carrier must not exceed 12 kg.
  • Maximum dimension of the carrier should be 55cm × 40cm × 23cm and the animal must fit in the container comfortably and has enough space to stand up, lie down, and turn around.
  • The box should contain a maximum of 2 pets as long as they are the same kind.
  • Only one container is allowed per passenger.
  • The container should be entirely closable.
  • A passenger traveling with an infant is not allowed to bring pets as per Airbaltic baggage allowance policy.
  • The pet must remain in the container throughout the journey.
  • The container must be well-ventilated.
  • To bring your pet in the cabin, you must pay a non-refundable fee of 70 EUR.
  • If your itinerary includes a stopover at Riga that exceeds 24 hours, then the pet transportation fee will be applied to each flight separately.

Larger Animals

  • Larger animals, who cannot be transported in the cabin, must be transported in the cargo as checked baggage.
  • The weight of the animal and the container should not exceed more than 75 kg.
  • The maximum dimension of the container should be 84cm × 142cm × 84cm.
  • The container must be large enough for the animal to fit in comfortably, and has enough space to stand up, turn around, and lie down.
  • A maximum of two animals of the same kind will be allowed and the weight should not be more than 14 kg each.
  • The container must-be leak proof.
  • Food and water bowls must be attached to the inside of the container.
  • If the weight of the animal and the container is 32 kg, then the passenger must pay 100 EUR per direction as per Airbaltic baggage allowance.
  • If the animal and the container weighs more than 32 kg, then the passenger must pay 200 EUR per direction.

Restrictions

On airBaltic flights to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, and the United Arab Emirates

  • Animals allowed as manifested cargo only.
  • Animals are not allowed in the cabin as hand luggage or in the cargo hold as checked baggage as per AirBaltic baggage restrictions.

On airBaltic flights from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, and the United Arab Emirates

  • Animals are allowed in the cargo hold only as checked baggage or manifested cargo.
  • Only service dogs are allowed in the cabin.

AirBaltic Damaged or Delayed Baggage Policy

If your luggage is mishandled by the airline, then you can follow the guidelines so that the airline can track your luggage or reimburse for the damages:

For Delayed Baggage

  • If your baggage is delayed, then file a report at the airport’s ‘Lost & Found’ office or in the self-service portal as per AirBaltic delayed baggage.
  • While the airline is searching your baggage, you can purchase essentials, and keep the receipts, which you can submit via online form.
  • As per AirBaltic baggage rules, if your bag is delayed for more than 5 days, then you need to file a lost bag report.
  • Economy Class passengers will receive 10 EUR for 4 days as reimbursement.

For Lost Baggage

  • If your baggage is not located within 21 days of arrival from AirBaltic baggage tracking program, then you are entitled to claim compensation in accordance to Airbaltic baggage allowance policy.
  • Submit the application along with a list of the lost items and their value, as well, as any purchased receipts (if applicable).
  • You will receive a reimbursement of up to 1,500 EUR.

For Damaged Baggage

  • File a report at the ‘Lost & Found’ office at the airport immediately after you receive damaged baggage.
  • You cannot file a report after 7 days of arrival.
  • You can contact the airline’s partners repair service, and your baggage will be repaired or replaced free of charge.
  • The airline is not liable for cosmetic or superficial damage incurred by checked baggage as a result of standard carriage process, nor for any losses incurred due to baggage defects, quality issues, nonconformity or faulty packing.

AirBaltic Baggage Allowance Fees

airBaltic baggage fees depend on the cabin class. However, if you have brought extra luggage, then expect to pay a fee. Below are the fees, you may have to pay for extra luggage.

AirBaltic Standard Checked Baggage/Hold Luggage fees

  • From 19,99 EUR while booking tickets on the airline’s official website.
  • From 34.99 EUR once you already have a ticket ‘Manage My Booking’ or during online check-in.
  • From 35 EUR at travel agencies or airBaltic ticket office.
  • 60 EUR at the airport check-in desk.
  • As per Airbaltic baggage allowance policy, passengers will have to pay 60 EUR at the gate if the cabin bag is found to exceed the standard size and weight and has to be checked in.

  • With a Business Class ticket- 4 pieces, up to 80 kg free of charge.

Overweight Baggage Fee

  • If any piece of baggage exceeds 20 kg per bag allowance, passengers will be charged a 50 EUR heavy baggage fee.
  • If your checked baggage exceeds both the number of pieces and the weight allowance, then both fees will be applied simultaneously as per Airbaltic baggage allowance policy.

Oversized Baggage Fee

  • If any piece of baggage exceeds the standard dimension set by the airline, then you may have to pay a fee of 60 EUR each way.
  • Bulky baggage that exceeds the weight of 20 kg will incur 110 EUR each way.
  • The fee comprises a 60 EUR bulky baggage fee and 50 EUR heavy Airbaltic baggage fee.

AirBaltic Restricted Items

airBaltic takes strict measures to ensure safety and security of its crew and passengers. In order to protect the safety, the airline has listed some objects, which are considered dangerous. Here is a list of items, which are strictly prohibited in airBaltic flights.

  • Transportation of lithium batteries
    • Portable electronic devices with lithium metal or lithium ion cells and batteries must not exceed 2 g of lithium for lithium metal batteries and 100 wh for lithium ion batteries.
    • E-cigarettes powered by lithium batteries may be carried in the cabin bag. However, the batteries must not exceed 2 g of lithium for lithium metal batteries and 100 wh for lithium ion batteries as per Airbaltic baggage allowance.
    • Portable electronic devices powered by lithium-ion batteries with 100 Wh and not exceeding 160 Wh, or portable medical devices powered by lithium metal batteries, which just not exceed can be carried as AirBaltic bag allowance.
    • Lithium batteries including power banks installed in a baggage item must be removed from the bag, so that the passenger can carry the batteries and power bank into the cabin.
  • Dangerous Objects
    • Flammable liquids and solids
    • Oxidisers such as bleaching powders
    • Organic peroxides
    • Tear gas devices or any gas cylinders
    • Infectious substance such as live virus materials
    • Wet-cell car batteries
    • Instruments containing mercury and magnet

Sports Equipment

Take your own equipment when heading for a sports adventure. You do not have to leave behind your sports gears with an airBaltic flight. airBaltic baggage allowance allows its passengers to bring the following sports equipment, as long as it follows the airline’s standard baggage limitations.

  • Bicycles must not weigh more than 25 kg and the pedals should be removed, handlebars turned and tyres deflated.
  • One set of diving equipment is allowed and must not weigh more than 23 kg. The diving equipment can contain one empty scuba tank, one scuba regulator, one tank harness, one tank pressure gauge, one mask, two fins, one snorkel, one knife, one speargun, and one safety vest is allowed to carry in Airbaltic baggage allowance.
  • Golf equipment is allowed only if it doesn’t weigh more than 23 kg.
  • One pair of skis, one pair of ski boots, helmet, and one pair of ski poles, are allowed and not weigh more than 23 kg as per AirBaltic hand baggage allowance.
  • Snowboarding equipment is allowed and must not weigh more than 23 kg.
  • Ice hockey equipment, including ice hockey helmets, sticks, skates, and a set of ice hockey wear, including protector and pads.
  • Fishing and surf/kite board/windsurfing equipment are allowed as per AirBaltic baggage allowance.
