How Do I Check-in For British Airways?

Can I Check-in Online With British Airways?

  • You can check-in online for your British Airways flights from 24 hours up to 1 hour before departure from the UK and from 23 hours up to 2 hours before your flight’s departure from the United States.
  • In order to complete the British Airways online check in through the web process, you have to visit the official website of British Airways, click on the ‘Check-In’ tab, then retrieve your reservation by entering your booking reference and surname. Click on the ‘Check-In’ button and complete the process following all the instructions. 
  • You can select your preferred seat, a special meal and also you can book additional bags. Also, you can easily download your e-boarding pass. 

Note : You can check-in for your flight by clicking on the ‘Manage my bookings’ as well. Keep in mind that in some cases it is possible that you won’t be able to check-in online and you will have to go to the airport in order to complete the process. 

Does British Airways Have Mobile Check-in?

  • You can complete the British Airways check in online process through the airline’s mobile application from 24 hours up to 1 hour before departure from the UK and from 23 hours up to 2 hours before your flight’s departure from the United States. 
  • If you want to check-in for your flight through the airline’s mobile app, you have to download and open the application, click on the ‘Check-In’ button & ‘Get Boarding Pass’ button and follow the instructions. 
  • Your boarding pass will be downloaded automatically on your mobile device /  smartwatch.  You’ll be able to access it whenever you want, even when you’re not online. 
  • After downloading your boarding pass, check your bag at the baggage claim area and go to the security checkpoints.

Note : The mobile boarding pass is available for most of the routes except from London City to New York because of USA’s government regulations.

Can I Check-in At British Airways Self-Service Kiosk?

  • You can Check-in for your flight through the self service Kiosk of British Airways (available on selected airports) between 24 hours and 60 minutes before the departure for long haul flights and up to 45 minutes before the departure for short haul flights. 
  • To complete the British Airways check in at a kiosk, you have to insert your credit card, ticket and Executive Club card, then follow the instructions to confirm your booking.
  • Then select the people for whom you want to check in and select or change your seat with the help of the interactive seat map.
  • After this, automatically you will receive a printed copy of your boarding pass. 
  • You can do the kiosk check-in from 24 hours up to 20 minutes before the departure for all the flights in London City and up to 45 minutes before the departure for short haul flights in London Stansted Airport, London Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport, Paris Orly Airport and Europe & UK’s airports. 

Exceptions

  • You can complete the British Airways check in Kiosk process up to 60 minutes before the departure from Barcelona, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Istanbul, Milan, Palma and Madrid and up to 90 minutes before the departure from Jeddah. 

Note : Kiosk check in British Airways can be used by passengers checking in for British Airways flights and flights operated by franchised partners. This service is available for adults, kids traveling with adults but not for the unaccompanied minors. 

How Do I Check-in For British Airways Flight At The Airport?

  • You can check-in for your flights at the airport check-in counters of British Airways from 24 hours up to 60 minutes before the departure for long distance flights and up to 45 minutes before the departure for short distance flights. 
  • After presenting your travel documents at the check-in counter, you can check in bags and complete the British Airways check in process. The airline will assign you a seat and will give you your boarding pass. 

How Soon Should I Reach For Airport Check-in?

  • Up to 20 minutes before the departure in the City of London for all flights. 
  • Up to 45 minutes before the departure at London Stansted Airport for all flights. 
  • Up to 45 minutes before the departure at all the airports but 60 minutes before the departure from Glasgow and Edinburgh. 
  • Up to 45 minutes before the departure for short haul flights but 60 minutes before the departure from Milan, Palma, Barcelona, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid and Amsterdam. 
  • Up to 60 minutes before the departure for long haul flights at London Heathrow Airport and other international airports except Jeddah. 

Points to Remember

  • Keep in mind that you must go to the security check at least 35 minutes before your flight’s departure. 
  • Arrive at a boarding gate at least 20 minutes before your flight’s departure. 
  • British Airways check in online service is not available for passengers with special needs and unaccompanied minors. 
  •  If you forget or lose your boarding pass, use the self-service kiosks at the airport to print it. 

What Is British Airways AirPortr doorstep check in?

With AirPortr doorstep check-in, the airline collects your luggage directly from your home, office, or hotel and checks-in for your flight, so that you can travel light, go to the security screening queue directly. However, the AirPortr doorstep check in service is only available at Heathrow and Gatwick Airports in the UK, Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland, and also in Vienna, Italy.

Can I Change/Select My Seat With Online Check-in?

British Airways check in policy enables its passengers to change or select the seat of their choices online or also at the airport. Bronze members of the airline can select their seats seven days prior to their departure (excluding exit row seats). Gold and Silver members can select the seat at the time of booking. The rest can select their beginning 24 hours prior to departure.

Note* British Airways online check-in is not available, if you are traveling from Dubrovnik, Isle of Man, Montpellier, Perugia, Bergerac, Guernsey, Fuerteventura, Kefalonia, Split and Tirana.
