After the arrival of your kids at the airport, it is the airline’s obligation to look after your children until they depart from the airport in the hands of their legal guardians safely. From the check-in desk through the arrivals halls, the airlines will guide your child through everything. However, there are certain rules in case of unaccompanied minors. 

• The unaccompanied minor service is compulsory for children under the age of 12. 
• For children aged 12-17, the unaccompanied minor service is not compulsory, however, parents can schedule UMNR service to ensure smooth journey of the child and priority handling in case of flight cancellation or delay. 
• As per Swiss Air Lines unaccompanied minor policy, the airline only provides reservations for unaccompanied minor services on direct flights. 

Guidelines for Unaccompanied Minors

Below 2 years old	Must be accompanied by an adult or parent who is at least 18 years old
2-4 years old	Must be accompanied by a sibling or guardian who is at least 16 years old or an adult with age more than 18 years old.
5-11 years old	Not compulsory UMNR, minor can be accompanied by a person who is at least 12-16 years old
12-17 years old	Unaccompanied minor service is complete optional

Book the Swiss Air Lines Unaccompanied Minor Service

• As per Swiss Air Lines unaccompanied minor guidelines, the booking of the unaccompanied minor will be considered under adult booking with children fare.
• You can contact the airlines to request for unaccompanied minor service for your children while purchasing the ticket. The easiest way to contact the airline is to contact them via chat. 
• While requesting for the services, you will have to provide your contact information for unaccompanied minors. Along with that  provide the contact information of the person who will greet the child at the destination airport. 
• Both the people who purchased the ticket and the person who will greet the children should be legally adults.

Unaccompanied Minor Travel Documents 

• As per Swiss Air Lines unaccompanied minor policy, children of 16 years or over must carry a passport, a photo identification or visa while travelling.
• Minors of age below then 17 years travelling without their parents are advised to carry passport or photo identification.  
• While minors of age below 12 years travelling alone and carrying complete Unaccompanied Minor Advice Form are not required to carry any further documents. However, guardians dropping them off or greeting them at the destination airport must prove their valid identity.

Unaccompanied Minor Baggage Allowance

• Unaccompanied minor’s baggage allowance will depend on their ticket type. 
• Ultimately, unaccompanied minors are allowed to carry baggage just like and adult. However, the baggage will be handled and checked-in by the uniformed Swiss Air Lines staff as per Swiss Air Lines unaccompanied minor policy. 

Unaccompanied Minor At the Airport 

• The parent or the legal guardian are advised to accompany their child to the departure airport and through the check-in counter and fill the unaccompanied minor form. 
• The unaccompanied minor will be picked up by uniformed Swiss Air Lines personnel who will assist the child through the check-in, baggage submission and boarding. 
• It is advised by the airlines that the parent or legal guardian should remain at the airport till the flight is airborne. 

Boarding and Take off
