About Aeroflot Baggage Policy

It is a hectic job for all of us to pack our bags within the baggage limits to avoid paying an additional price. However, there are times when we exceed the limit. That’s why passengers need to know the baggage allowance. If you are flying with Aeroflot then you should know the Aeroflot baggage policy. 

Aeroflot or previously known as Russian Airlines, is the official flag carrier of Russia. It is also known as the largest airline of Russia. The airline is based in the Central Administrative Okrug, Moscow with a hub at Sheremetyevo International Airport. The airline was founded in 1923, making it one of the oldest active airlines in the world. Aeroflot currently operates on more than 100 destinations throughout the world with more than 178 fleets. 

Aeroflot Baggage Guidelines 

Aeroflot follows a piece based baggage system for all its flights. Aeroflot offers customers the freedom to carry ample baggage allowance. Aeroflot baggage rules depend on the route and destinations opted by the customers. The system also distinguishes between different classes of service and other applicable fares and destinations. 

Aeroflot Checked Baggage Allowance 

The airline has three cabin classes including Business, Comfort and Economy. These classes also feature subcategories named Flex, Classic, Saver and Lite. As per Aeroflot baggage allowance, the checked baggage for Flex fare is 2 checked baggage with maximum weight of 32 kg with total dimension of 203 cm. For Lite, Saver and Classic fare types, the baggage allowance is 1 piece of checked baggage weight not more than 23 kg with a total dimension of 203 cm as per Aeroflot Airlines baggage allowance.

 Aeroflot Carry-on Baggage Allowance 

All passengers are allowed to carry one hand baggage on Aeroflot flights. As per Aeroflot baggage allowance, the dimension of the hand baggage must not exceed the sum of three dimensions of 115 cm (55 x 40 x 20 cm). Along with hand baggage, all passengers are allowed to carry one small personal item including handbag, backpack, briefcase, camcorder, books, laptop. However, the personal baggage must not exceed the permissible weight of 5 kg.

Aeroflot Excess Checked Baggage Fee 

Aeroflot baggage fee depends on whether the baggage is oversized or overweight. In case of excess carry-on baggage, the baggage will be considered as checked baggage. However, in case of excess checked baggage, then the customer will have to pay an excess baggage fee depending on the fare rules. 

• Excess Piece
  Passengers travelling in Economy Lite, Classic are eligible to carry one checked baggage as allowance. However, if they wish to purchase excess baggage then they will have to pay $26.96 USD for the second piece of baggage. For more than two bags, customers will have to pay $ 80.89 USD. 

• Extra Piece
  According to Aeroflot baggage policy, passengers travelling in Flex fare are entitled to carry two checked baggage. However, those who want to purchase a third and subsequent piece of baggage allowance must pay $80.89 USD.

Aeroflot Pet Baggage Policy 

As per Aeroflot baggage policy, passengers with disabilities can travel with service animals for free. However, passengers must inform the airline about the accompanying service animal. As per Aeroflot baggage policy, the maximum size allowed of a hard sized pet carrier is 100 cm with dimension of 44 x 30 x 26 cm. For soft-sized carriers, maximum dimension is 126 cm with maximum weight of 8 kg.

Aeroflot Sports Baggage Allowance 

• As per Aeroflot baggage policy, the airline offers complimentary sports allowance including a set of ski or snowboard equipment in addition to baggage allowance from November to the middle of May.  
• Along with the free baggage allowance, one set of surfing or diving equipments can also be carried for free during a certain time of the year on routes from/to Male, Bangkok, Phuket, Tel Aviv, Colombo, Seychelles, Punta Cana, Cancun, Cairo, Havana, Sharm el Sheikh. 
• For sport equipment exceeding the free baggage allowance rates for excess baggage will be applied. 

Aeroflot Musical Instruments Allowance 

• The airline allows passengers to carry smaller instruments with dimensions not exceeding 135 cm that can be carried in the cabin with accordance to the  Aeroflot baggage rules. 
• Larger instruments can be carried as checked baggage, however, the airline is not reliable for any damage or liability. 
• If the instrument is carried in the cabin then the weight of the instrument must not exceed 80 kg and dimension more than 135 cm.
