About AirAsia

A large number of flight cancellations made by passengers cost airlines a huge loss. To address such issues, AirAsia has introduced an Air Asia flight change policy, under which passengers can change their itinerary instead of canceling the entire reservation. Air Asia, a Malaysian multinational low-cost airline, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, operates scheduled flights to over 165 destinations, spanning 25 countries.

AirAsia Flight Change Policy

AirAsia change flight policy has undergone some specific changes to make travel with the airline convenient and flexible. The airline encourages passengers to reschedule their flight instead of canceling the entire reservation. However, it is better to learn about the rules before you proceed further.

• AirAsia will not charge any change fee if the changes are made within 24-hour of booking, as long as the flight’s departure is at least 7 days later.
• Low Fare and Value Pack ticket holders must pay a change fee, if they make any changes in their reservation after the 24-hour window.
• Premium Flex and Premium Flatbed ticket holders can make modifications in their reservation even after the 24-hours window.
• AirAsia will refund you for the unused portion as a future travel credit. The remaining part of the trip will be valid for one year.
• Passengers are allowed to make changes up to 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure. However, Business Class passengers are allowed to change their flight up to 4-hours before the flight’s departure.
• In case the new flight costs less than the original flight, the airline will not offer any residual balance as refund. Whereas, if the new flight costs higher than the previous flight, the passenger must pay for the fare difference.
• AirAsia flight change policy is applicable to bookings made via https://www.airasia.co.in/home, AirAsia mobile app, or AirAsia customer support number.
• If you make any changes in the itinerary, all the benefits, add-ons, and upgrades will become a subject to availability for your new flight.

AirAsia 24-hour Flight Change Policy

• AirAsia allows its passengers to change the reservation free of charge if the modifications are done within 24-hours of booking and as long as the scheduled departure is at least 7 days later.
• The 24-hour policy is applicable to all fare types.
• Passengers have to pay for the fare differences, if there is any change in fare that states that the new flight is costlier than the original flight.

AirAsia Flight Change Policy for Different Fare Tickets

Low Fare and Value Pack Ticket

• If the changes are done after the 24-hour window, Low Fare and Value Pack ticket holders must pay a change fee.
• You can avoid paying change fees, if the change date is the same as the original date.

Premium Flex and Premium Flatbed Ticket

• Premium Flex and Premium Flatbed ticket holders are entitled to make changes several times, even after the 24-hour risk-free period gets over.
• Premium Flex passengers are entitled to two free changes, whereas Premium Flatbed ticket holders can change their reservation multiple times for free.
• For changes made through an offline method, passengers must incur the change fee.

AirAsia Date Change Policy

AirAsia passengers are allowed to change the date of their booking up to 48-hours before the scheduled departure. It is subject to availability and passengers have to pay for the fare difference, if applicable.

• AirAsia has waived off date change fee for all bookings till 15 June, 2022, as long as the new selected date is 30 June, 2022.
• If the new flight costs less than the original one, the difference will not be refunded. However, if the new flight costs more than the original one, the passenger must pay for the fare difference.
• Flight date/time changes are available up to 48 hours before the original flight’s departure. Z2 flight passengers can make the changes up to 12 hours and i5 flights up to 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the original flight.
• Date change must be made through an AirAsia member ID or Agent Login ID.
• The date change is available only on ‘My Bookings’, on AirAsia.com, AirAsia app or AirAsia Agency portal.
• All Premium Flex Fare are eligible to make date changes by paying USD 75 and the changes must be done at least 4-hours prior to the scheduled departure.

Air Asia Destination Change Policy

In some cases, AirAsia allows passengers to change the origin and destination in their itinerary. The destination change fee is applicable and depends on the date/time, route, and fare type.

• If the fare rule allows, then passengers can change the origin/departure.
• The changes in the route can be made online via the ‘My Booking’ section in the airline’s official website. Otherwise, you can call AirAsia’s customer support number to make the changes in your itinerary.

AirAsia Change Seat Policy

You can select the seat of your choice at the time of booking. However, if you want to upgrade or change the seat later, you can do it by paying a nominal seat change fee.

• Passengers are allowed to change their seat up to 4-hours prior to the scheduled departure.
• The seat changes can be done online via the ‘My Booking’ section in the airline’s official website. Otherwise, you can call AirAsia’s customer support number to make seat changes.

Air Asia Name Change Policy

There could be a typing error while booking your flight. To help you correct the mistake, AirAsia allows passengers to make some minor changes in name. But there are some rules to change the name.

• The airline allows you to correct the name for up to 4 characters on the first, middle, and last name.
• AirAsia will charge USD 200 for a name change.
• You can not transfer the ticket to an entirely different person.

AirAsia Same-day Flight Change Policy

Same-day flight change is applicable to only Z2 and i5 flight passengers. Others can change their flight up to 48-hours before the scheduled departure. Z2 passengers have 12-hours to change their flight and i5 passengers can change up to 4 hours before the original flight’s departure.

Air Asia Flight Change Fee

AirAsia flight change fee depends on various factors. Not all passengers have to incur the change fee. If the cancellation is made within 24-hour of booking and as long as the flight’s departure is 7 days later, the airline offers free changes in the itinerary. However, a change fee will be applicable after the 24-hour risk-free period. Here is a list of change fees for particular fares:

• Visit https://www.airasia.co.in/home
• Click on Manage and enter PNR/booking reference number and First or last name or registered email or contact number.
• Tick the box at the left side and click Get Itinerary.
• Manage your booking by following the prompt
• Make the changes and pay the change fee charges (if applicable)
• Once the airline approves your request, you will receive a confirmation mail
