Best Places to Eat in Charlotte

About Charlotte

Charlotte is indeed the culinary capital of North Carolina. It’s located in the heart of NC and proudly boasts tons of restaurants and dishes you can drool over. From iconic food trucks to affordable diners around the corner, here’s a list of cheap restaurants in Charlotte, which you can check out when you visit this incredible city.

Cheap Eateries

Little Village Grill

When I googled for the top cheap eats in Charlotte, this cafe popped up, and I decided to visit it myself. This is one of the best restaurants in Charlotte, which is too good to be called a cheap eatery, and the food they offer is the one to speak for. The rates are pretty affordable except for the queue during lunchtime. This traditional Greek restaurant has been best known for gyro and beef sandwiches, burgers, pitas, subs, and fries since 2009.

What The Fries

“There’s a lot more to fries than you think.”

Owned by Chefs Jamie Barnes and Greg Williams, this popular food truck renders a perfect gourmet fry experience in every bite served. They offer authentic street-style burgers, fries, sandwiches, and milkshakes.

Though they might not offer you top-class hospitality experiences, the food is impeccable. It’s better to carry cash and expect a crowd while you’re here.

Tacos El Nevado

To experience the spicy Mexican cuisine at one of the best cheap restaurants in Charlotte, I went to this place. With the essence of traditional Mexico, this place serves exotic meals from “Oaxaca,” a state and city in Mexico known for its food. The ambience is quite calming and cozy, with an inclusive dining area.

The menu covers as many tacos as you’d imagine, with an option to prepare your favorite combo. Try out the Asada tacos, grilled chicken meal with Charro beans, ColeSlaw salad, and rice when you visit here. On top of that, the restaurant serves ravishing burritos, hamburgers, fritangas, and tortas.

Benny Pennello’s

Who doesn’t love a large slice of pizza when hunger strikes. Although there are numerous pizza outlets in Charlotte, Benny’s is quite popular among them. The rates are nominal without compromising the delectable flavors.

Apart from giant-sized pizzas, the other items on the menu are impressive too. Fortunately, Benny’s entails several beer brands for visitors. So, you can pair your meal with a can of your favorite beer. The most popular pizzas here are pepperoni, sliced Italian sausage, garlic mushroom, some specials- The soprano (Bacon, Mac’ n cheese, Crispy Onions) and Santa Maria (Spinach, Artichokes, Ricotta cheese).

Rhino Market and Deli

As the name suggests, Rhino’s, among the best restaurants in Charlotte, is a local neighborhood market & deli that prepares fantastic dishes at a very affordable cost. They serve diversified eatables that fulfill the various needs of millennials like you!

The idea is to provide a relaxing and fun environment for everyone. If you want to hang out, have a coffee break, or sip a glass of wine — Rhino’s provides an adequate aura for almost any occasion!

I have tried their top menu dish, chaud legumes, for 8$. The meal comprises Grilled Portobello, zucchini, caramelized onion, red pepper, mozzarella, arugula, garlic aioli, ciabatta.

If you’re going for breakfast at Rhino’s, make sure to have French toast and a classic English muffin sandwich. Also, you can go for BYO(build your own) meals as you like.

Midnight Diner

The best part about this diner is that they serve food 24*7*365 days a year, not even closed during holidays. So, if you’re feeling a sudden craving for a quick snack, you can rush up to Midnight Diner for a bite.

Ideally, the most eaten platter includes hash browns with loaded cheese and ham for 6$. Other meals are steak, omelets, waffles, beef hamburgers, salads, and sandwiches. The place has a food dish for every need.

With this option in hand, you don’t require a fancy restaurant; instead, you can enjoy an excellent meal at a low cost even after the bar closes. They also have many lip-smacking desserts you should try like red velvet cake, NY cheesecake, bourbon pecan pie, and more for 6$ – 7$.

Sabor Latin Street Food Grill

Do you want a typical street-style nachos meal? Well, this place offers the same. It is best known for its unique flavors that don’t downgrade despite the cheap rates. This eatery is loved by kids and young adults, considering the ambience that makes it worth visiting.

The menu’s most popular item features a mountain of tortilla chips topped with queso, refried beans or black beans, lettuce, sour cream, pico, guacamole (no, it’s not extra!), and your choice of protein. They also have some daily specials for an added sprinkle of fun.

You can pair up your nacho bowl with a pour of cocktail to make the taste heavenly. Apart from that, you can have a takeaway and enjoy the nacho meal while relaxing on your couch (I did that, so you can too)
