High-Rated Cheap Restaurants in Dallas

by Dhriti

About Dallas

The only mantra to eat well without blowing through your pocket is to eat from small eateries, food trucks, and street food vendors. Avoiding fancy restaurants and hitting the local markets for cheap restaurants in Dallas is the best way to cut corners. I have been traveling for the past five years, and I know that traveling is a constant expense and that every penny counts when you are away from home.

About Dallas

About Dallas

I was in Dallas for seven days, and what I found- Dallas is heaven for cheap eats. The city has a fantastic selection of eateries that are affordable and offer incredible food. Here I have scouted out some of the best cheap restaurants in Dallas that will leave you with a filled stomach and satisfied soul.

Cheap Eateries

Bubba's Cooks Country

Bubba’s is the best among all the cheap eats I have been to during my trip to Dallas. They have a colossal menu, where fried chicken owns the crown. I tried their classic plate- Fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, veggies, and yeast roll, and trust me, I ended up visiting them twice during my stay. The piquant, aromatic flavour of the fried chicken is going to tease your taste buds forever.

Whether you are visiting them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you are leaving with a deal.

I recommend this place to anyone visiting Dallas.

Firexbox

Firexbox

Firexfox is a great drive-thru eatery to grab some spicy tuna rolls, super white tuna, and salmon sushi at a very reasonable price. The place is mostly about Japanese sushi and hibachi, but you can find California rolls that taste much better than your regular eateries that cook rolls.

You can try them once when in the locality. As customers come here, place their orders, pay, and leave fast, don’t expect much hospitality.

Rodeo Goat

I wouldn’t have visited them if I hadn’t bumped into one of my friends near the market. A bit expensive as most of their main courses or signature dishes cost you around 7-12 $. But glad, I did. We both ordered two different dishes- mine was Chupacabra, where the platter consists of beef & chorizo patty, queso asadero, roasted hatch green chiles, guacamole, jalapeno croutons, smoked lime aioli. I loved the taste and ended up paying 12 USD. Too much for one meal!

Keller's Drive-in

Serving some of the best hamburgers for the past 50 years and finding people in their cars to deliver the order. When in Keller’s Drive-in, don’t go out of your car and peep through the window to place your order. Depending on what you order, the guys will find you and hunt you down with some of the best hamburgers and sandwiches.

The double No 5 Special is indeed their signature dish, and so I ordered the same. With a double cheese patty, shredded lettuce, tomato, special sauce, and poppy seeds in the bun, the dish’s taste is unique yet relishing.

Mexicali Cafe

Who can resist the urge to devour that hot and crispy tortilla chips, Mexican fajitas served with chicken, guacamole, cream, pico de gallo, fried beans, onions, bell peppers, and flour tortillas? Honestly, I can’t, and that was the reason behind my visit to this one of the most affordable Mexican restaurants located on the northwest highway.

Apart from some fantastic Mexican cuisines, they have assorted beer, house drinks, tex-mex drinks, and a lot more. To pay less and yet sip some tequila shots, this one is a good place.

From Monday to Friday, they offer Happy hours to customers, and it’s a good deal for backpackers like me.

Tipicos

Tipicos is another cheap eatery that offers an authentic taste of Mexican cuisine. The caldos are made with homemade tortillas and served with different ingredients like beef soup, rice, red chile, white hominy, vegetables, etc.

I ordered Pollo that was served with shredded chicken, rice, beans, and nachos. It was a mouthwatering delight for me at a very reasonable price.

The burgeoning culinary scene of Dallas has always been galvanizing the foodies of the town. In Dallas, restaurants open and close down constantly. So it is possible that if you are visiting cheap restaurants in Dallas that serves the best food at a reasonable price, it may not be there the next time you visit.

So, devour everything when you still have the chance!

Overall

So, these were the best affordable restaurants of Dallas, where you can visit and taste some of the best delicacies in the town. From crispy chicken legs and a plate full of sushi to spicy Mexican grilled food, there’s a lot to eat and try out. The best part is that all these meals are under $10, and not compromised with flavor or quality.
