Copa Unaccompanied Minor Guidelines

According to the unaccompanied minor policy of Copa Airlines, the child between the age of 5-14 will be considered as unaccompanied minor as per Copa Airlines unaccompanied minor policy. In this case, guardians or parents must avail unaccompanied minor service. 

• Children under the age of 5 are not allowed to travel without a companion who is at least 18 years old. 
• For children aged between 15-17, unaccompanied minor service is optional. It is up to the guardian or parents to request for assistance if they deem for it.  
• Children between the age of 5-7 are allowed to travel alone non-stop without a plane change in the itinerary. 
• Copa Airlines only permits unaccompanied minors between the age of 8 to 14 to board both direct and connecting flights. 
• Children between the age of 15-17 may travel directly without assistance only if they are regular customers as per Copa Airlines unaccompanied minor policy. However, they must provide government documents to prove their age. 

Copa Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Travel Requirement 

Copa Airlines advises parents and guardians of the unaccompanied minors to fulfil the requirements mentioned in the Copa Airlines Unaccompanied minor policy for a stress-free flight experience. 

• The unaccompanied minor travelling should at least be above 5 years old to travel. 
• The child should also have a valid passport and Visa in case of international flights.

• Children under the age of 14 must carry an unaccompanied minor service form signed by their parents and guardian. The form typically includes details like contact information, travel itinerary, and emergency instructions. 
• The airline also requires a medical clearance proving the mental, physical well-being of the child before they board the flight. 

Unaccompanied Minor Baggage Allowance 

• As per Copa Airlines unaccompanied minor policy, an unaccompanied minor should not carry carry-on baggage that they cannot guard.
• The airline will not be responsible for the baggage carried by unaccompanied minors.
• According to Copa Airlines unaccompanied Minor policy, an unaccompanied minor cannot carry excess baggage allowance. 

Copa Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Restrictions 

• The airline is not responsible for not offering special services for the unaccompanied minor if the same is not requested by the parents.

Unaccompanied Minor At the Airport 

• The parent or the legal guardian must accompany the child to the departure airport and through the check-in counter as per Copa Airlines Unaccompanied minor policy and fill the unaccompanied minor form. 
• The unaccompanied minor will be picked up by uniformed Copa Airlines personnel who will assist the child through the check-in, baggage submission and boarding gate.

Special Requirements From Panama for Unaccompanied Minor 

Unaccompanied minors departing from Panama must carry their original birth certificate and a valid passport while flying out of Panama. However, there are several other conditions applied to the unaccompanied taking flight from Panama. 

• The unaccompanied minor must be accompanied by an adult. 
• According to Copa Airlines unaccompanied minor policy, the mandatory notarized letter or accompanied minor form is compulsory if both the parents are present at the departure airport in front of National Migration Service. 
• Parents holding the custody of the child must carry an authorization for travel issued by an empowered judge. 
• In case, if the unaccompanied minor is accompanied by a third party or relative or travelling alone, then he/she must carry both parents’ written consent.
