Founded in 1953, Surinam Airways, initially called by its Dutch name : Luchtvaart Maatschappij, is the official flag carrier of Suriname. The airline is based in Paramaribo and operates its long and short haul flights from its hub at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport. Surinam Airways was founded by private entrepreneurs from a Dutch company in 1953. However, now it is wholly owned by the Government of Suriname.

Surinam Airways Cancellation Policy 

The airline offers its passengers a flexible and feasible Surinam Airways refund and cancellation policy that allows them to cancel their flight in case of emergency. However, there are some restrictions that passengers should know to avoid paying extra charge in case of cancellation. 

• In case of cancellation of all Surinam flights, passengers will receive full refund of the flight reservation along with flight cancellation compensation as per Surinam Airways cancellation policy. 
• As per Surinam Airways, all refundable and non-refundable fares will be considered under the cancellation policy regardless of any fare types, and class of service. 
• As per Surinam cancellation policy, the cancellation and refund is only applicable on the flights operated by Surinam. 
• After cancellation, as per Surinam Airways refund policy, the refund value of the reservation will be credited back to the original form of payment in 7-10 business days. 

Surinam Airways 24 hours Cancellation Policy  

Surinam Airways offers its passengers the liberty to cancel their flight within 24 hours of booking it without paying any cancellation fee or losing the value of their reservation. 

• Passengers can claim full refund in case of 24-hours cancellation under the 24 hours free cancellation policy.
• This policy is only applicable for the flights originating from the US and Canada. 
• Surinam Airways ticket cancellation within 24 hours is not applicable on bookings made from mileage points. 
• Reservations made from credit cards are not included in the Surinam Airways cancellation policy. 

Surinam Airways Cancellation Fee 

As per Surinam Airways cancellation policy, every reservation regardless of fare type or class of service, passengers will have to pay 200 USD as cancellation fee if the reservation is cancelled after the 24 hours risk-free period. 

• In case of refundable tickets, after the process of cancellation fee,  the value of the ticket will be refunded into its original payment method. 
• In case of non-refundable tickets, after the cancellation fees, the value of the ticket will be converted into a future travel voucher that is valid till one year from the date of issuance. 
• As per Surinam Airways compensation and assistance policy, cancellation fee waiver is applicable only in cases of passengers being denied boarding, a case of bereavement.  or any other flight cancellation which is directly attributed to other airlines.   

Surinam Airways Flight Delay Cancellation 

It is imperative that flights may get delayed or cancelled due to various situations.  Situations like extremely bad weather, mechanical issues, Air Traffic Control clearance, shortage of crew, system malfunction. However, in these situations, passengers can claim compensation depending upon the distance of flight between the origin and destination. 

• In case of delay of more than 4 hours, passengers are entitled to receive cancellation compensation alongside a refund request against the reservation. 
• As per Surinam Airways refund policy, Passengers can also demand an alternate flight in case of flight delay. 
• Also, passengers can request a Surinam ticket refund for the unused part of the ticket in case of a stopover. 
• Furthermore, passengers are also entitled to receive hotel accommodation if the next flight is available after 5 hours of delay or the next day. 
• The delay policy also states that meals and refreshments are also offered during the waiting time. 
• The affected passengers are also entitled to have access to international phone calls, emails, and internet access. 

How to Cancel Surinam Airways Flight?

There are multiple ways to cancel a Surinam flight, passengers can either cancel their flight through Surinam airways cancellation online method or can simply call the airline customer service. The online method allows you to cancel your reservation in just a few clicks. 

Cancelling Surinam Flight through Website

It is fairly simple to cancel the reservation through the online method. Simply login to the official website and follow the below mentioned steps. 

• Visit the official website of Surinam Airways and proceed to click on “Manage my Trip”. 
• Insert your six digit reference number along with last name to retrieve the booking. 
• Click on the flight itinerary you want to cancel if you have more than one passenger on the same booking. 
• After selecting the itinerary, click on “Cancel” to check if the reservation qualifies for refund as per Surinam Airways refund policy. 
• If the reservation does qualify, then the refund amount will be displayed on the screen. 
• Lastly, click on confirm my cancellation to proceed with flight cancellation. 
• Once the request is processed, passengers will receive the Surinam reservation cancelled confirmation email on the email address provided at the time of booking. 

Cancelling Flight Over Phone 

 Another way to cancel the flight is through seeking assistance from the airline representative via call. Passengers can find the official helpline of the airline at the bottom of their official website. 

• After contacting the customer representative, provide the person with the 13 digit ticket number to retrieve your booking. 
• Ask the agent to cancel your reservation according to Surinam Airways cancellation policy applicable on your booking. 
• If you are cancelling your flight to/from US and Canada within 24 hours of booking it, then you will receive a full refund. However, flights cancelled after 24 hours and for destinations except US and Canada are subject to cancellation fee. 
• Once you agree with the cancellation policy, the agent will proceed to cancel your flight and the refund will be credited back in your original payment method. 

Cancel Suriname Flight at the Airport 

Passengers can also cancel their flight at the airport counter to avoid any miscommunication on phone or any glitch while cancelling online. 

• Find the Surinam ticket counter at the airport and request for assistance as per Surinam Airways Compensation and Assistance Policy.
• Provide necessary details: flight reservation number, last name and flight number to the agent to retrieve the booking. 
• The agent will give you a brief summary of the cancellation policy applicable on your ticket. 
• After agreeing with the policy, the agent will give you accurate information about the accurate refund amount. 
• Once you are satisfied with the refund, ask the agent to cancel your booking.
