• All minors between the ages of 5 – 18 can travel alone without parents or legal guardians only if they requested for Surinam Airlines unaccompanied minors. 
• Minors travelling on Surinam flight should also have a copy of parents or guardian’s passport or national ID. 
• The airlines follow strict security procedures in the case of children due to high risk of child trafficking. 
• The airlines advises parents and legal guardians to keep important documents such as consent form, unaccompanied minor form as well as passport and other important documents handy.

Surinam Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Rules 

• Children under the age of 5 must travel only if they are accompanied by a parent or adult passenger.
• As mentioned in Surinam Airlines Unaccompanied minors policy, minors are not allowed to check-in online and thus they must complete their check-in at the airport.
• Due to risk of human trafficking, child abduction, additional control has been put on adult passengers travelling with minor children.  
• Passengers or legal guardians should ensure to carry proper documents including a signed declaration of consent of the parents, a copy of passport of the minor and a copy of details about the person who will be picking up the child. 
• The airline should be informed beforehand about the person accompanying a child of less than 2 years, so that Surinam Airlines can make necessary arrangements. 
• As per Surinam Airlines policy in unaccompanied minor, the airline has complete right to cancel the booking in the absence of any required details or above mentioned document. 
• The child’s age will be determined as of the date commencement of transportation from the point of departure by the Airport and airline authority.

Netherlands

• Passengers travelling from the Netherlands are requested to carry a “Consent Form” from all Royal Military Police.

• Unaccompanied minors Surinam Airlines travelling to any of the above-mentioned destinations in the U.S  must carry a consent form signed by either parents or legal guardians.  
• Parents can download the official form from the official website of Surinam Airlines. 
• Also, the airline advises its minors’ parents or guardians to thoroughly check the guidelines for minors travelling to the U.S.A to acquire necessary documents. 

Unaccompanied Minor Baggage Allowance 

As per Surinam Airlines policy for unaccompanied minors, minors are only allowed to travel on adult fare and thus they can carry adult baggage allowance as well. However, the baggage allowance also depends on the route, destination and fare types. 

Checked Baggage 

As per Surinam Airlines unaccompanied minor policy, minors travelling in Economy class can carry one piece of baggage with a maximum weight of 25 kg and 158 cm (62 inches0 of dimension. In Business class, minors are entitled to carry checked baggage weighing 32 kg each with a maximum dimension of 158 cm (62 inches). 

Hand Baggage

Along with checked baggage, every passenger including unaccompanied minors are entitled to carry one hand or carry-on baggage weighing not more than 10 kg  and dimension of 25 x 40 x 55 cm.

Surinam Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Protocols at the Airport 

Surinam Airlines has certain guidelines to ensure that the child experiences a convenient flight journey. 

On the Departure Airport 

• As per unaccompanied minor policy for Surinam Airways, unaccompanied minors along with parents must reach the airport at least 3 hours before their flight.
• Parents are advised to remain at the airport for 15-20 minutes after take off to ensure that there is no reroute of the flight. 
• In case of cancellation or delay, the airline will inform the legal guardian or parent through email, message and call.
• After the completion of check-in, the child will be escorted through the security check-in and boarding gate. 
• Lastly, to familiarise the child with the aircraft and cabin crew, the child will be the first one to board after boarding starts. 

During flight

• With accordance to Surinam Airlines minor policy, throughout the journey in air, the flight crew will ensure to take care of the minor throughout the journey.
• Parents or the legal guardians of the child must ask the child to inform the cabin crew in case of any assistance. 
• Parents must ensure to pack some snacks, books, digital gadgets, toys, written details of parents and their phone number along with prescribed medication in case of emergency in their personal bag. 

At the Destination Airport 

• Upon arrival, a staff of Surinam will escort the child through the baggage claim section and exit gate. 
• The airline advises the person who will be picking up the child must arrive at the airport at least 1 hour before flight departure according to Surinam Airlines unaccompanied minor policy.
• Before handing over the child to the adult, the staff will check the identity as per mentioned in the Unaccompanied minor form submitted by the parents at the departure airport.
