Carry-on Baggage Allowance

LATAM allows all its passengers to bring at least one hand bag. Additionally, depending on your ticket fare, you may bring one carry-on bag with you. Moreover, the carry-on bag and your personal item must not exceed the maximum dimension. Any additional bag may incur a baggage fee. For a more clear understanding, read the points below:

  • Light, Plus, or Top Fare ticket holders can bring a 10 kg carry-on bag. Basic Fare holders are not entitled to bring a 10 kg carry-on bag. However, they can buy it at least 6 hours before the flight’s departure.
  • The maximum dimension of the hand baggage should be 45 × 35 × 20 cm, including pockets, wheels, and handles. The hand baggage must fit under the seat in front of you.
  • If your handbag doesn’t comply with the maximum quantity and size, then you must pay an extra cost, which depends on your route.
  • The maximum dimension for cabin baggage is 55 × 35 × 25 cm.
  • If you are traveling in the Economy cabin, the cabin baggage must not weigh more than 10 kg.
  • If you are traveling in the Premium Economy or Premium Business class, the maximum permitted weight is 16 kg.
  • If the overbin deck in the cabin has no space for your carry-on bag, the airline will send the bag to the hold at no cost.
  • If your carry-on bag exceeds the maximum size and weight limit, then you are required to send your bag in the hold for an extra cost.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Additional Checked Baggage Policy

If you are bringing more baggage than what is indicated on your flight ticket, then purchase additional baggage items in advance. You will pay 30% less than on the same day of your flight. Check out the points below to know more:

  • You can bring 1 more item of 15 kg, in addition to the 23 kg baggage item. The dimension of the additional luggage should be within 158 cm.
  • You can purchase this service up to 6 hours before the flight’s departure. You cannot purchase it at the airport. You can either purchase it through LATAM’s sales office or by calling the call center.
  • You must deliver the 15 kg baggage at the airport counter for dispatch. If you do not do that, then you will have to pay extra fees.
  • Only 1 item of 15 kg will be allowed per passenger.

LATAM Pass Members

  • Passengers who are members of LATAM’s frequent flyer program- LATAM Pass, with Platinum, Black, or Black Signature. Are allowed to carry 1 additional checked baggage up to 23 kg with no extra cost.
  • Members of Platinum, Black, or Black Signature with Basic Fare are not entitled to this service. In addition, they will not have the option to replace this baggage with special baggage.
  • If you are traveling with a partner airline, Platinum Members can bring 1 additional checked baggage or 15 kg to add in an already included baggage.
  • If you are traveling with a partner airline, Black and Black Signature members can carry 1 additional checked baggage up to 20 kg in an already included baggage fare.

Excess Baggage

If your baggage exceeds the size, weight, and number of pieces, then it will be considered as excess baggage, and you will have to pay an extra baggage charge.

Domestic Flights

  • If you bring more items than permitted, the airline will charge an additional amount for each extra piece.

LATAM Baggage Allowance for Infants

LATAM takes all necessary measures to ensure safety and comfort of its passengers, and when passengers bring an infant on board, LATAM goes the extra mile to ensure their safety. However, a baby on board requires some specific steps to be followed by the guardian. Here’s a list.

  • If the baby is traveling on your lap, you can carry a handbag free of charge in addition to an already permitted hand baggage allowance.
  • The dimension should not exceed 45 × 35 × 20 cm.
  • You can carry a folding car, collapsible stroller, a portable bassinet, or a certified car seat.
  • If the stroller has a detachable restraint system, it will be considered as a single item.
  • If you purchase a seat for your infant, the baggage allowance will be the same as an adult.

LATAM Airlines Pet Policy

LATAM allows furry friends on board. You can bring your dog and cat with you in the cabin. However, to ensure safety and security of the pet and other passengers on board, you must follow some specific guidelines.

  • Your pet can travel with you in the Economy cabin or in the hold, depending on the size and breed. Exceptions will be made for service / emotional dogs.
  • The pet must be at least 16 weeks old.
  • The pet must travel in a specialized bag or kennel during the entire flight.
  • The total weight of the dog and the kennel should be within 7 kg, and the dimension of the kennel should not exceed 36 in length, 33 cm width, and 19 cm in height., and 23 cm in height if it is a transport bag. The kennel should be large enough for the pet to lie down, stand up, and turn around, with well ventilation.
  • If your dog is traveling in the hold, the total dimension of the dog and the kennel should be 300 linear cm, with a maximum height of 115 cm. The distance between the pet’s head and the kennel should be at least 5 cm.
  • The maximum weight between the pet and kennel should be up to 45 kg, and up to 32 kg, if traveling to or from Europe, Oceania, Argentina, and Aruba.

LATAM Damaged, Delayed, or Lost Baggage Policy

Delayed Baggage

  • If you receive a delayed baggage, contact LATAM staff, present at the baggage collection area.
  • File a Property Irregularity Report together with your passport and identity documents, boarding pass, and checked baggage voucher.
  • If the airline fails to locate your luggage within 14 days of your arrival, the airline will compensate you.

Damaged Baggage
