Starting from check-in counter to boarding gate, the unaccompanied minor services will take care of your child through every process. 

• The Emirates unaccompanied minor service is mandatory for children between the age of 5 to 15 years old. 
• This service is only applicable for flights operated by Emirates Airlines. 
• The maximum connecting time for an unaccompanied minor to another airline is 4 hours only. 
• The maximum time to transfer from one flight to another at Dubai International Airport is 8 hours. 
• As mentioned in Emirates Airlines unaccompanied minor, unaccompanied minors are not permitted for overnight layover at the airport for connecting flights unless accompanied by parents or legal guardians. 
• The parents must remain for 20 minutes at the airport after the flight has departure to make sure that there is no reroute or delay afterwards. 
• Parents or legal guardians must make sure to complete and submit “Declaration of indemnity” form for the child’s safety and protection 
• The parents or guardians accompanying the child to the airport must provide a government identity for proof of identification. 

Age Restriction on Unaccompanied Minor Program  

Emirates Airlines has age restrictions when it comes to minor travelling alone. The airline only allows children between a certain age to travel alone. 

• As per Emirates unaccompanied minor policy, children between the age of 5-11 can fly alone along with unaccompanied minor service. The reservation for unaccompanied minors must be made on an adult fare.
• If a minor is accompanied by a parent or guardian or adult who is at least 16 years old, then the minor will be considered as accompanied. 
• Emirates unaccompanied minor service is not mandatory for children between the age of 12-17, however parents or guardians can request for the same to ensure a safe journey. 

Emirates Unaccompanied Minor Fees

To avail the unaccompanied minor services, passengers must pay a certain fee at the check-in counter. However, parents can request for the service through the website or mobile app itself. Guidelines for Connecting Flights 

Emirates allows unaccompanied minors to travel on connecting flights only if they are operated by the airline only. However, the airline advises the parents or guardians to follow instructions. 

• If the unaccompanied minor has a connecting flight, then the maximum time allowed for connecting flight of another airline is 4 hours. 
• As per unaccompanied minor Emirates, the maximum connection time is 8 hours if the child is connecting with another Emirates flight at Dubai International Airport. 
• The unaccompanied minor is not allowed to have an overnight connecting flight unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. 
• Prior approval from the airlines is a must in case of overnight stay for a flight. 

Required Documents for Unaccompanied Minor Service 

In order to reserve Emirates unaccompanied minor service, there are some specific documents that parents and guardians should submit. 

• Parents or guardians must provide the Declarations of Indemnity form/ Emirates unaccompanied minor form at the check-in counter with accurate information. 
• The airlines also demand government issued photo Identity proof of both parents/guardian and child as per Emirates Airlines unaccompanied minor policy.  
• Child passport is a must while travelling either domestic or international. 
• Parents or guardians should also carry a child’s birth certificate and health card to prove that their child is fit and healthy to travel.

At the Check-in and Boarding Gate 

• Parents or guardians are advised to reach at the airport with the minor at least 2-3 hours before their flight to complete flight and additional formalities timely. 
• The parents or guardians should remain at the airport at least 15-20 minutes after the flight is airborne to ensure that there are no rerouting or sudden emergencies. 
• All documents should be prepared before arriving at the airport to save time and hassle at the check-in counter.

During the Flight

At the Arrival Airport 

• At the arrival airport, a staff will receive the child and facilitate through the airport customs and baggage claim. 
• The parent or guardian at the arriving airport must reach the airport at least 1 hour prior to flight arrival. 
• The adult must provide identification and notarized documents encapsulating the details and relation of the adult with the child. 
• Lastly, after ensuring the identity of the adult, the Emirates staff will hand over the child.

However, the Emirates policy on unaccompanied minor services must be booked at least 12 hours before the scheduled flight departure.
